Titan Cooking Assessment

Kia Ora,

Today I will be reflecting on my cooking assessment. I made Crispy Tofu with Stir Fry Noodles.

Things you were pleased with.

I was very pleased with how everything turned out. The vegetables were tender but still nice and crunchy, the noodles were all dente, the flavours were delicious and the spice was a good level.
Things that needed improvement or changed for next time.

According to my family the improvements I could have made were a) a little less chilli oil. b) adding some cashews or peanuts for extra protein and crunch. c) add meat. I think these are all valid improvements and I would most likely add nuts next time.
What knowledge or skills did you learn during this unit.

To be completely honest, I have been cooking for years at home so I know a fair few skills already. I would say that I have definitely learnt how to work in a kitchen with others around.
Having a unit around planning specifically for my family was…

Quite easy actually. As I said before, I have been cooking meals since I was around six or seven. I have been helping cook and bake since I was around two or three. I have made many different dishes that had to cater to different needs so I found this quite easy.

Goal Setting Term 1 2023

Kia Ora, today I will be sharing my Goal Setting with you. We have been working on this for a while and I would say that it is going pretty good. Here is some of what I wrote.

My greatest achievement of last year:

I tried Performing Arts for Arts Kete, made some friends and really enjoyed dancing with Tayla and Elise for performing arts. You can read more about it here.

My subjects this term:

Social studies, Passion Projects, art, Friday sport, PE, math, literacy, food tech, wananga and music. I am enjoying Passion Projects and art the most.

Short term Academic Goals:

  1. Practice the math that I am not the best at and learn more ways to do math.
  2. Learn lots of different skills in cooking.

Non-academic goal:

To practice my control of the hockey ball in hockey.

My learning strengths:

  1. I can absorb information quickly.
  2. I am a curious learner – I ask questions.

My work-ons:

  1. I need to just trust the process because sometimes I find it hard to wait.
  2. I need to manage my emotions when I am frustrated or challenged
  3. In food tech I get annoyed easily because I know most of the skills and half the time all we do is cut veggies. When we made sushi, we didn’t cook the rice or chicken.
  4. At home I have made: chicken pie, chicken sausage rolls, sticky sesame pork ribs, chicken pesto pasta, polenta and meatballs, bread cases, oat pancakes, cupcakes, cake and hotdogs.

How will I achieve this?

I am thinking of starting a journal so that I have a cure for my boredom and frustration.

Thanks for reading my goals, I hope you enjoyed. Bye!!

My 2 Favourite Songs

Hi everyone, today I thought that I would share my 2 favourite songs and why I like them.

No. 1 Welcome to the black parade. By My Chemical Romance.

I like it because it’s fun to dance to and to sing. I can sort of relate because my grandfather died before I was born and so it is sort of like my experience.

No. 2  90s Dance Medley. By Pentatonix.

I really like this song because it has lots of songs mushed together, this way I can find out which of them I like and listen to the whole song and find new songs I like. Also I like a range of different 1950-2020 songs and it is fun find more. Pentatonix is my FAVOURITE band and their acapella!!!!!! Like how cool is that?

Wings Of Fire (Book 15) Review

Hi guys, for the past couple of weeks I have been reading Wings Of Fire The Flames Of Hope. Here is a little blurb about this book, Luna has always wanted to change the world – to fix it, to free it – even if she’s never actually known how. Now that all of dragon – and humankind are in mortal danger, Lunais now flying back to Pantala with a team of dragons on a rescue mission, determined to be brave and useful.

It is so good, I love the whole series. This book has been my absolute favourite out of the series. My favourite characters was Luna and Dusky.

My favourite part is at the end of the book when Bumblebee is yelling a lot and Cricket and Swordtail are saying that one of Luna’s weavings are their favourite and Blue says “you say that about all of them”. I would 100% recommend this to everyone, but you have to read the rest of the series first.

Have a good week.

Wednesday the 6th of July

On The 6th of July year 7-9s had a day off.

My Mum was traveling and so I had to go to my Dads work with him. it was so much fun! He got invited to teach a group of ladies how to make 4 different types of bread from the same base dough. He taught them how to make a pizza, focaccia, bagels and pull apart. Once he made them and they were cooked he cut them up and we all got to try a little piece of each one. For context my Dad has worked at a number of bakeries! I don’t have photos of all of them but I will find some.

Pizza! I would hope that all of you know what pizza is but I have always wanted to but pizza in a blog post so this is an excuse:

Focaccia. Focaccia is a flat leavened oven-baked Italian bread, similar in style and texture to pizza. Focaccia can be any shape:

Bagels. A bagel is a bread product originating in the Jewish communities of Poland. It is traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, that is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked:

Pull apart. A type of bread that is formed into a shape that contains distinct markings or indentations that allow the bread to be “pulled apart” into individual servings:

We had a few tasks to do but one of them was from my P.E teacher, she told us to walk at least 5 km. I went for a walk with my friend, Trisanah, we walked like 11 km. It was very fun. I have raised 70 dollars on my 40 hour famine!
